Thor proves himself to be the God of Thunder and Thor: Ragnarok proves itself to be one of the Gods of Marvel, standing proud amongst the best so far. The whole movie’s an absolute blast, packed with references, gorgeous action and more genuine laughs than most comedies. An excellent film to round off Marvel in 2017
All the ingredients are there, but it’s just a missed opportunity. The bunch of friends are all likeable, well-cast and well-acted, their banter carrying the film in the first act nicely. The constant sinister atmosphere is good, but sadly the horror and scares are missing, with the end feeling like such an unsatisfying mess that it eclipses most of what was good in the beginning.
Excellent performances from a great cast; and intriguing, thematically rich story; and an immersive, gorgeously-shot world. A masterpiece that definitely lives up to the original.
Dripping with emotion, nostalgia and a romantic view of childhood, Goodbye Christopher Robin explores a wealth of themes with some excellent performances (particularly from the titular Christopher Robin) and affectionate references to a childhood classic. A lovely, bitter-sweet and delightful film for the whole family.
